Golf

  • Steenberg Golf Estate

The Peter Matkovich & Hayes designed golf course, consistently named one of the best conditioned courses in South Africa Golf Digest’s Annual Top 100, attracts golfers seeking a premium golfing experience.

Known for its hybrid plan, it offers traditionalists the opportunity to ‘bump and run’ (a rare shot in South Africa) in the rough around the greens, and to meet the challenges of strategically placed sand pits and waterways. The par-three, not-so-short 14th hole, features the largest green in Africa at 76 meters in length. Indigenous shrubs guard the green and the mound has been shaped to echo the distinctive mountain range behind.

The 18-hole golf course was designed to make full use of natural features and hazards such as the vineyards, pine forest and gentle waterways. Its environmental diversity gives the course its unique character, with a backdrop of Table Mountain.

  • Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course

The Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course carries the name of the world’s preeminent golf course designer, best known as the Golden Bear. When Jack Nicklaus opened the course in 2003, he said: “Surrounded by mountains, this is one of the most spectacular settings in which I have designed a golf course.” This was not only an endorsement but touched on the visual pleasure that adds immeasurably to how golfers experience the game.

Beyond the greens, landscaping, areas of natural fynbos and lakes, the Simonsberg mountain range creates a picture-perfect backdrop.

  • Arabella Golf Club

Surrounded by the magnificent Kogelberg mountain range and Bot River Lagoon, and edged by wild fynbos, the picturesque Arabella Country Estate is the ideal place to pursue a passion for golf and enjoy an idyllic golf holiday. The fabled 18-hole, Par 72 Championship course has consistently been ranked in the top 10 courses in South Africa. The 8th hole has been described as one of the most beautiful par 5’s in South Africa and the 18th hole was rated one of the finest finishing holes in the country.

The course was designed and built by the highly acclaimed South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich in 1999. Since then, many professionals and celebrities have enjoyed the Arabella Golf experience, including Jack Nicklaus, Samuel L. Jackson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Ronan Keating, Lee Westwood, Tim Clark and Gary Player.

  • Montagu Golf Course

The majestic Langeberg mountains provide a panoramic backdrop to the scenic Montagu Golf Course. Situated in the beautiful Montagu Valley, the Montagu Golf Club surprises all visitors with scenic vistas from all areas of the course.

  • Pinnacle Point Golf Estate

Overlooking the India Ocean near Mossel Bay, and designed by Peter Matkovich and 2011 Open Champion, Darren Clarke, Pinnacle Point is one of the most unique and scenic golf courses in the world.

This Clifftop Fynbos Golf Course inspires the golfer to play this challenging layout with a level of respect due to its dramatic views and breathtaking terrain. The 72 par layout is characterized by 7 majestic holes that line the Indian Ocean rock cliffs, four of which are played over ocean and cliff. All 18 holes have been designed to fit the contours of the land.

In 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, Pinnacle Point Estate was named South Africa's Best Golf Course at the Annual World Golf Awards.

  • The Links at Fancourt

Fancourt is home of some of the world’s most spectacular and rewarding golf courses. There are three Gary Player designer courses, each with its own unique character and allure.

The Links, measuring up to the highest international standards, is Fancourt’s flagship course. The design of the course was modelled on the links courses of the British Isles and, unsurprisingly, Gary Player has described it as his greatest ever feat as a course designer.

  • Outeniqua Golf Course

The 18-hole Outeniqua (meaning “land of milk and honey”) parkland layout is maintained to a very high standard, with a number of fairways bounded by white-walled, thatched roof villas, adding character and colour to the surroundings.

The Outeniqua golf course provides a relaxed and enjoyable golfing experience. While it offers a constantly changing terrain, it presents sufficient challenges to keep golfers engaged.
